Greta Van Fleet takes on a dark and psychedelic sound with 'Sacred The Thread'

Costumes covered in intricate designs made of gems and sequins are a vital fraction of what makes Greta Van Fleet. The newest single ‘Sacred The Thread’ highlights that part of them. The four piece rock band has announced their newest album and tour titled Starcatcher. Now the second single ‘Sacred The Thread’ has dropped, giving fans another look into the upcoming album.

“This song is particularly important to me because it’s about my jumpsuits”, lead singer Josh Kiszka announced when introducing the song at The Beale Street Music Festival. ‘Sacred The Thread’ opens with an isolated drum beat and is shortly joined by the guitar and bass creating a dark and psychedelic sound, the band had said that was the vibe for the new album.

When performing, Josh is wrapped in a lace duster and changes into different jumpsuits throughout the show, showcasing the meticulously placed rhinestones on his face and flashy outfit. Bassist Sam Kiszka and guitarist Jake Kiszka are donned in suits. Sam’s suit jacket having a wing on his arm, Jake's suit is usually an opposite design of what his twin brother Josh wears. Drummer Danny Wagner shows off in a sleeveless mesh top with a removable cape. Each member sparkles and shines marvelously under the stage lights.

Josh’s voice draws in the listener and projects in an entrancing, passionate manner. His voice swirls beautifully with the instrumental. “I’ve seen it in the stars / To dress up a wound, heal a scar”, Josh sings of feeling healed, being able to be himself and wear what he pleases.

“Sacred the thread / I’ve caught the wind in a kite of dreams / In a flight of seams”, the drums emphasizing each lyric in the last chorus. As the song comes to a close, a harp is added producing a shimmery outro.

Greta Van Fleet’s album Starcatcher is set to drop on July 21 and three days after they begin their U.S. tour. Catch them at their upcoming tour this summer.
