Harry Styles Enters an Electronic Era with “Aperture”
After nearly a 4 year break from releasing music, Harry Styles is back with “Aperture,” the first single from his upcoming fourth album Kiss All The Time, Disco Occasionally. Releasing on March 6, the album features 12 tracks and is executively produced by Kid Harpoon. Ahead of the first single’s release, Styles previewed the song for fans at record stores across the world.
Just hours before “Aperture” released, Styles also announced a 2026 TOGETHER, TOGETHER TOUR that includes 50 dates and spans across 7 cities, including Amsterdam, London, Sao Paulo, Mexico City, New York City, Melbourne, and Sydney. His residency at Madison Square Garden in New York City will last for 30 of those 50 dates. Special guests featured on this tour include Robyn, Shania Twain, Fcukers, Jorja Smith, Jamie xxx, Fousheé, and Skye Newman across select dates.
Marking the first step into a new era for Styles, “Aperture” begins with a repetitive, pulsating synth beat before percussion kicks in and we’re taken into an unexpected techno soundscape. The song is immediately dance and disco ready. Instead of overloading the senses with stacks upon stacks of intense production, it relies on adding simple recurrent sounds to create a gradual buildup. As the track progresses, we’re pulled further into this funky electronic atmosphere by a distinctive blend of futuristic synthesizers and baselines. Notably, the song ends the same way it started, creating the perfect loop for repetitive listening.
Lyrically, the song is unmistakably a Harry Styles hit, though we don’t actually get to hear his voice until the 45 second mark: “Take no prisoners for me / I’m told you’re elevating.” During the second transition from the pre-chorus into the chorus, most of the ambient sounds drop to let the lyrics have a moment of uninterrupted focus: “It’s best you know what you don’t / Aperture lets the light in / We belong together / It finally appears it’s only love.”
Kiss All The Time, Disco Occasionally might just end up being Styles’ most creative era yet. “Aperture” showcases Styles’ fearlessness when it comes to sonic exploration and experimentation within his artistry.
