The Band Camino’s Single “Holly!” Is So Danceable

“Good golly, Holly!” After relentlessly teasing snippets like this of their new single “Holly!” on social media for the past few weeks, The Band Camino had fans begging for its release in their comment sections. The song–which finally dropped today, April 17–comes just before their new album titled NeverAlways Vol. 2 is slated for release on May 22. “Holly!” is the third and final single from this upcoming album, following earlier singles “12:34” and “Afterthought.”

The song opens with isolated crunchy guitar before bursting into a sunny sound led by the grounding beat of drums. The first verse starts off small with your attention shifting to focus on lyrics and the beat backing them up: “Now I’m thinkin’ ‘bout you Thursday / I’m fallin’ for you Friday, wait, why / Does it feel like I’ve known you my whole life.”

The chorus seems to then explode out from the first verse, bright and confident: “Holly / Tell me I’m not the only one who’s fallin’ / I know I’m not the only one that’s callin’ you at night / Baby, I love your mind and your body.” The electric guitar riffs that close out the chorus and lead into the next verse offer a smooth transition of energy.

We’re then immediately thrown into the bridge, building the perfect peak for fans to scream along to: “Can’t get your name off of my lips / I need to slow it down but I can’t get a grip / Electricity in your fingertips / I don’t want nobody else so I’ll keep screamin’ it.”

The third repeat of the chorus is where it all changes. Everything slows down for just a second while the soundscape becomes stripped back and centers the focus on the vocals. Just when you think it’s coming to a close, the song breaks out into the familiar energized version that’s heard through the rest of the song, but this time it’s pitched up.

While the lyrics to this song in particular may not be anything life changing, it’s the seemingly never-ending energy they’re able to bring to their songs that makes them stand out. Its catchy melodies and memorable chorus make this track an undeniably danceable electro-pop hit.

The Band Camino is set to join 5 Seconds of Summer on the North American leg of their EVERYONE’S A STAR world tour. Find upcoming tour dates here and listen to “Holly!” below.
