Granite Garden's Debut Single "Am I Just Bored" Won't Have You Asking the Same Question
Granite Garden, an up-and-coming band from the concrete jungle of NYC, has exploded onto the rock scene with their debut single, “Am I Just Bored.” If you’re looking for the perfect amp-up summer song, this is it. Angsty lyrics? Check. A dance break? It’s got it. Cowbell? More, please!
As described on their website, Granite Garden aims to “revel in the joy and power of live performances with friends, families, enemies, and strangers alike.” One such enemy might be the ex-partner described in the single, a powerhouse tune about a relationship falling apart.
Energetic guitar riffs back unapologetic and honest lyrics: “I could love you, but why bother / You've got one foot in the door and one foot out.”
In a movie, this song would be the soundtrack to a character’s realization they need to choose their own happiness, followed by a moody, solo walk around the city—and the music video, out on June 25th, delivers on this theatrical atmosphere.
The song ends with the screaming refrain,“Am I just bored or in love with you,” which encapsulates the push-pull emotional turmoil of a relationship as it falls apart.
The band itself began out of a relationship between singer Cameron Silliman and guitarist Seamus Good, who began writing songs together to connect during a long-distance relationship. When the couple reunited in NYC in 2021, they founded Granite Garden and added drummer Jon Schneider and bassist Peter Michaels Jr.
“Am I Just Bored” is feel-good angst, angry yet empowering. It’s the perfect addition to your situationship playlist to help you get over that person who didn’t deserve you, anyway. And if you don’t have any relationship woes, this song might inspire you to have an ill-fated summer fling just so you can enjoy singing along to it even more.
So, am I just bored or in love with this song? Definitely the latter. “Am I Just Bored” is out June 7th, joined by its accompanying music video on June 25th. Another single and a full-length album are set to follow.
