LOLLAPALOOZA CHILE 2023

BILLIE EILISH

TAKEAWAYS

The best: Immaculate setlist that included her old hits and the newer ones, and there was an acoustic section with FINNEAS. My favorites: idontwannabeyouanymore, COPYCAT, bellyache.

The worst: The show had to be delayed and interrupted because the crowd was getting crushed and people kept fainting. However, Billie was very considerate about it and helped security get it under control.

TWENTY ONE PILOTS

Sunday, March 19th 2023

TAKEAWAYS

The best: They managed to put on a show that left both fans and bystanders content + they prepared special songs for each country. They were also joined by an incredible band that complemented the two man band perfectly. My favorites: The Outside, Jumpsuit, Holding on To You.

The worst: Technical difficulties and sound problems; the boys had to rebuild the momentum for the Car Radio performance which was tragic. The crowd kept the singing going though, making the situation a little less awkward, but Tyler in particular could be seen a little preoccupied.

THE 1975

Sunday, March 19th 2023

TAKEAWAYS

The best: The band took to the stage during the sunset making everything feel even more dreamy. It felt like a nice recap of their career instead of just a promo show for their new album (they literally only played two songs from Being Funny: I’m In Love With You and About You).

The worst: They didn’t play Girls? Truly a tragedy. Matty also got angry at the camera crew for getting to close to Adam at points, and scared the bystanders who don’t know that this is just how he normally behaves (or worse).

WALLOWS

Sunday, March 19th 2023

TAKEAWAYS

The best: It felt like a long set and lots of fans were there for them and not only were waiting for the other bands. There were some funny moments as the boys got familiarized with the crowd, for example, when they accidentally found out about the rivalry between Chile and Argentina.

The worst: It was clear that they were tired and worried about the crowd, having to ask for help multiple times throughout the set. I personally think they hated Chile but maybe that’s just me being paranoid! I hope they still come back though.

DRAKE

Saturday, March 18th 2023

TAKEAWAYS

The best: He made sure to include every hit song he has, even if it was only for a few seconds. His energy was great, and you could tell he was happy with the crowd’s energy too, especially since he didn’t receive the welcome he expected at Lollapalooza Argentina.

The worst: The set only lasted around 50 minutes, including multiple moments where they had to pause the show. He also finished his set with a strange rendition of “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston, catching the crowd of guard as he excited the stage immediately after.

CONAN GRAY

Friday, March 17th 2023

TAKEAWAYS

The best: A wholesome performance with a just as wholesome crowd that had been waiting for Conan for years. He managed to turn the crowd into a safe space after a super messy latin music set. He also opened up about what his songs are about, connecting with the people that maybe didn’t know him as well.

The worst: He was scheduled really early and on Friday, so people were just getting to the park when Conan took to the stage. I also had to leave early because I need to shoot the following set at a different stage, which made me really sad.

SUKI WATERHOUSE

Saturday, March 18th 2023

TAKEAWAYS

The best: She is so cute and just fills the atmosphere with her energy. Robert Pattinson was also with her which was unexpected and a bonus.

The worst: Small stage that took a while to get crowded, plus a lot of fans were waiting for the next act.
