Day Three of Kilby Block Party: Shoegaze, Surprise Appearances, and Weezer
Kilby Block Party’s second-to-last day maintained the strong momentum of the weekend, delivering another lineup packed with standout performances. The genre variety and moments of surprise appearances kept the energy high from the second gates were opened, to the end of the last set.
Early in the day, local Utah band Over Under set the tone with an incredibly cathartic, deep-toned, energetic set that left a strong impression. Their sound and presence on stage reflected the power of the local scene, following in the footsteps of standout Salt Lake acts from earlier in the weekend.
Chicago band Friko kept that energy going with a driving performance that blended classic rock sounds with a modern indie feel. You could see the crowd jumping from across the festival along to tracks from their debut album Where We’ve Been, Where We Go From Here. Their set was sharp and full of energy, fuzzy riffs, and both soft but powerful vocals, bringing an old-school spirit into a festival crowd that sang along to each of their tunes. Their setlist clashed hints of nostalgia with a post punk essence that can’t be missed. If 2024 was their beginning, they’ve knocked down huge goals in 2025.
George Clanton delivered a high-intensity set that smudged the line between concert and spectacle. His signature stage presence was on full display, from dousing the crowd with water throughout the set to bringing on a surprise guest, TV Girl, during a track from their collaborative album, “Summer 2000 Baby.” The moment landed as one of the most electrifying surprises of the entire festival for many. He brought the energy and slung drinks into the crowd, nuturing the crowd for what was to come for the rest of the day.
As the afternoon turned to evening, Wisp took the stage with her shoegaze sound that had fans jumping, crowd surfing, and headbanging together. Her hazy, levitating sound translated into a hypnotic live experience, especially thanks to the wind and light rain that manifested during her set. With only a string of released singles and EP’s, Wisp has made a name for herself, the crowd singing back her most streamed songs like “Pandora,” “Your Face,” and her most recent release “Get Back To Me.”
Headlining the night, Weezer delivered a massive set rooted in nostalgia. Revisiting their Blue Album fittingly with there Blue Planet Anniversary Tour, which came out 30 years ago, the band took fans through a time capsule of iconic tracks, connecting multiple generations of listeners in the process. It was a fitting finale to the festival's night 3 close.
Even with light rain throughout parts of the day, the crowd remained enthusiastic and unbothered — a testament to the festival’s strong community and organization.
As with the previous days, Kilby’s staff, artists, and photographers kept the environment collaborative and enjoyable. With three packed days of music and connection done, Kilby Block Party attendees were ready for the fourth and final day of the fest.
