Charlotte Sands Keeps “one eye open” Talking About the Release of her Upcoming Album, Satellite
Unstoppable alt-pop sensation Charlotte Sands is back with the official announcement of her next album, Satellite, and the release of her latest single, “one eye open”. Debuting on March 6, 2026, the anticipation for Satellite has been building with each of her last three singles, “HUSH,” “Afterlife,” and “neckdeep”, promising to continue the bold, high energy sound Charlotte Sands has become known for. With her Y2K style and DIY signature, Charlotte has defined herself as an incomparable artist; creating and directing her own visuals, designing her own merch, and continuously creating her own signature looks. Her latest single, “one eye open” is anthemic, exploring the experience of toxic love and the strength it takes to choose yourself and take your power back. Balancing the intense subject matter with the perfect scream along with lyricism, it’s clear why Charlotte has become an undeniable rising force within the alt-pop scene. Charlotte Sands sat down for Off The Record to talk more about one eye open and the upcoming release of Satellite.
Leading up to the release of “one eye open” and the announcement of Satellite, you’ve released three singles earlier this year including “HUSH”, “Afterlife”, and “neckdeep," what made you want to release these particular songs as singles?
These songs really felt like the perfect representation of the album as a whole and the different sonic influences that inspired the process of making this project. I really wanted to showcase the different moments in Satellite, from the electronic rock to the more acoustic leaning songs, and this is what felt the most natural and the most exciting for me!
Is there anything about releasing "one eye open" that you're particularly excited about? Where does this fit into the next chapter of your music?
I am so excited about this song being out in the world because it feels like the first time that I was able to vocally & melodically really lean into my inspiration from artists like Amy Lee / Evanescence. Their songs feel so cinematic and contain so much emotion, I was really intentional about wanting to make something that resonated in that way and it felt like an ode to some of the songs that have really influenced my artistry over the years.
You’ve cited both artists like Sheryl Crow and Grace Potter as well as early 2000’s pop punk as some of your early influences, are there any artists you particularly look up to now? How has your personal taste evolved through your career thus far?
Right now some of my biggest influences are artists like PVRIS, Yndling, Dido, Michelle Branch, and so many others. I really try to listen to different genres outside of what I'm currently making and then bring some of the sonic or melodic inspiration back into the alt/rock world. My personal taste is always evolving alongside my life and my experiences as a human. I think where you are in your life deeply influences the art you intake and create. I feel really grateful to continue to feel inspired by so many incredible friends, artists, collaborators throughout my life.
For first-time listeners, what three songs of yours would you want them to hear and why?
I think I would want them to hear "HUSH," "Afterlife," and "one eye open" because I think they're such a clear reflection of who I am and where I am right now. I love all of my songs so much that it always feels impossible to choose between them! I think outside of those three I would say "blindspot," "use me," and "spite." Those are 3 of my favorite songs I've made and they're so much fun to perform live.
What can listeners expect in the future? What comes next?
More music and more shows! I am so excited for this album to come out and even more excited to play these songs live, I can't wait for those moments. Hopefully I'll see you on tour!
