Caroline Romano Falls With Open Arms into Off The Record

Rising alt-pop sensation Caroline Romano is back with the release of her newest EP, It Took Me Falling. The highly anticipated follow up to How the Good Girls Die, It Took Me Falling is a deeper exploration of personal growth, capturing the essence of the balance between feelings of resilience and unraveling. Fully embracing the clarity of being on the other side of the experiences that come with growing up, It Took Me Falling is the ideal soundtrack for all of the painful and uncomfortable moments, as well as the hope on the other side, knowing you're moving towards something better. Romano sat down for Off The Record to talk a little more about the release of It Took Me Falling

Congratulations on the release of It Took Me Falling! Is there anything about releasing this specific EP that you're particularly excited about? How does this fit into the next chapter of your music?

Thank you so much! I’m really excited to show this side of myself and my music, as it’s unlike any project I’ve released before. It’s a bit softer and more cinematic than many of my other releases, but I think it opens the door to introducing those sounds into more of my heavier alternative/pop songs. I’ve been waiting for what feels like all of my life to write songs like the ones that are a part of It Took Me Falling, and I can’t wait for them to be out in the world.

It Took Me Falling tackles themes of personal growth and finding yourself, did you find or learn anything unexpected about yourself through the process of making the EP?

I learned a lot about what I believe certain moments in my life were meant to teach me, now that I’m on the other side of those experiences. I used to struggle to understand what the purpose of past heartbreaks, but writing this EP showed me that they were meant to bring me to where I am today.

How do you want people to feel while listening to It Took Me Falling?

I want people to feel like they are listening with their arms out open while wearing their heart on their sleeve. That’s a lot of what this project is about allowing yourself to fall.

For first time listeners, what three songs of yours would you want them to hear and why?

This is tough, but I’d have to say: “girl in a china shop,” “Cruel and Unusual Punishment,” and “There It Is."

Anything upcoming you’d like to tease? What can listeners expect in the future?

I’m working on a lot of exciting things following the release of It Took Me Falling, and the release show accompanying it. There will definitely be a lot more music in 2026, and hopefully some cool tours and collaborations along the way.

Stream It Took Me Falling, out now wherever you find music.
