Buck Meek’s solo album, “Haunted Mountain” set to release this Friday

Buck Meek, well-recognized for his work as the backing vocalist and guitarist of upcoming indie/folk band Big Thief, is set to release his upcoming album Haunted Mountain on August 25th with independent label 4AD. This indie/folk album explores Meek’s family dynamics, describes his search for truth, and analyzes the correlation between love and magic.

The album’s cover photo (above) was taken at Valle Onsernone, in the Swiss Alps. Inspired by family, truth, and love, Meek took to writing these songs by the cold springs of the Serra de Estrela of Portugal, on the submerged volcano of Milos in the Cyclades, and the Santa Monica range - where Meek currently resides.

Haunted Mountain was recorded at Sonic Ranch, near Meek’s hometown in the Franklin Mountains, more reverently referred to as Sierras de los Mansos. The production process was treated as sacred time by all contributing parties, and sonically asks the question - is love a form of magic? On Haunted Mountain, recorded and mixed by Adrian Olsen, Buck Meek is accompanied by original band members from his self-titled album; Mat Davidson (production, pedal steel, bass), Adam Brisbin (guitar), and Austin Vaughn (drums). Also featured are Ken Woodward (bass), and Buck Meek’s brother, Dylan Meek (piano, synths). Haunted Mountain’s release follows the releases of four singles; Cyclades, Mood Ring, Lullabies, and Lagrimas, and their music videos. In addition to these releases, Meek has also announced his 2024 solo tour dates.
