Sparklehorse’s posthumous album, “Bird Machine” set to release this Friday (9/8)
Sparklehorse, the solo musical endevour formed by the late Mark Linkous, is being given a second life with the release of its first full-length posthumous album Bird Machine. In tribute to Mark Linkous, the creative genius behind Sparklehorse, his younger brother and closest friend, Matt Linkous, revives Mark’s musical legacy and offers an intimate glimpse into the life and struggles of the enigmatic artist.
Mark Linkous, who tragically took his own life in 2010 at the age of 47, was born into a coal miner family, but chose to pursue a career in music to avoid a life in the mines. His life was immediately marked with turbulence, with his parents' divorce when he was just 13 years old and his early affiliations with a particularly volatile motorcycle gang, the Pagans.
