Seattle's Up-and-Coming Bands and Artists

The city of Seattle is known for the iconic grunge scene and big names like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Alice in Chains. Seattle’s buzzing music culture is still around today, and if you are a local, you most likely know someone in a band whether big or small. While there is a dense population of new artists and bands, a few stand out and are growing quickly. Off The Record compiled a playlist of these up-and-coming bands and artists from the greater Seattle area you need to check out.

“Pretty Lips” by WINEHOUSE

WINEHOUSE is a band from Olympia, Washington just a couple hours outside of Seattle releasing alternative pop music. They plan to pump out singles in 2024 and started the year strong with their new track “Layla”. With over 1 million listeners in 2023 and “Pretty Lips” with over 7 million streams, WINEHOUSE is ready to bring you the best beats just in time for Summer.

“Hollow” by Chastity Belt

Chastity Belt, a band from Walla Walla, Washington had their first release in 2013 and just released their new album “Live Laugh Love”. Taking the city of Seattle as a big inspiration in their songwriting and production, with songs like “I-90 Bridge” and “Seattle Party” the community are long time supporters of this all female band. Chastity Belt’s next tour begins in early May and they are taking their music worldwide, from Brooklyn to Glasgow.

“Everybody Thinks They Know (But No One Really Knows)” by Naked Giants

Founded in 2014, a garage rock trio releasing two albums withn the span of two years. Since their last album in 2020, we have seen many singles and the city of Seattle is eager to hear what they release next. The trio joined Car Seat Headrest’s live band and supported the band on their worldwide tour. Naked Giants have played almost every venue in Seattle and celebrated album releases at a local venue open to the public. If you go to a Naked Giants show, you will see the three members playful energy and watch them riff off one another in real time.

“Solace” by Princess Pulpit

A track fresh off Princess Pulpit’s debut album displays the bands sound they describe as “softcore heavy doom punk”. You can catch this band formed in 2019 all around the greater Seattle area, from local festivals to supporting bands at shows in the city. They will be performing at Capitol Hill Block Party along with Chappell Roan, Still Woozy, Cannons, and more. This West Seattle alternative band is just one of the few up-and-coming teenage bands we see popping up at more events throughout the city.

“Can’t Call It Mine” by THEM

Another teenage band from West Seattle, proud to say they have played at every major Seattle venue and festival. You might have even seen them performing on top of the Space Needle on New Year’s Eve. This all-girl band, have two singles out so far in 2024 with more coming soon. These four color-coordinating bandmates find time to spend together outside of the studio and interacting with fans, making friendship bracelets for all their loyal listeners.

“711” by Foxy Apollo

Foxy Apollo, a band ranging between 4-6 band members describes their music as a blend of jazz, funk, rock, and pop. Since 2018, this collective continues to release singles and albums widely loved in the Pacific Northwest. They will be touring the state of Washington in May performing their 2023 album “Saturated, Faded”.

“Different Windows” by Smokey Brights

A rock band from Seattle with a husband and wife duo, along with their drummer and bassist bring a warm sound to the grey city. You can stream the band’s music with their discography reaching close to 50 songs. The songwriting and powerful rock anthems will entrance you in a summer state with their unique sound and storytelling.

“Playdead” by Laamb

A band formed during the pandemic, Laamb’s experimental rock and punk sound has gone throughout the Pacific Northwest from streaming their songs during the pandemic or their unconventional venues. Starting out the new year in 2024, the band released their first album “Seagullville 2” and eager to get back into the studio. You may see them performing at night at your local underpass, and the riveting crowds they bring in.
