9 Artists You Need to See At All Things Go Festival 2023

This year on September 30th and October 1st,  All Things Go festival will go on in DC. Concertgoers will be treated to a smorgasbord of female-led rock, pop, and indie bands. The festival is expanding to two days for the first time since 2019 and once general sales began, all tickets were gone in a matter of hours. Heavy hitters dominate the lineup, which has gotten better and better every year. All Things Go is dedicated to inclusivity which can be seen from this years lineup and the years previous.

Here are some of the artists that Off the Record thinks you should not miss:

Day 1:

Hemlock Springs:

Brand-new musician Hemlock Springs is a trendy up and coming artist that has only released 5 songs total. Her career took off after her song "Girlfriend," which was one of the only songs she had ever released, went viral on TikTok. At barely 24, she has already performed at Lollapalooza and now, this festival. It will be encouraging to see some fresh talent breaking through in the live music scene.

Songs to Check Out: girlfriend, sever the blight, heavun

Sudan Archives:

Sudan Archives, a black R&B musician who performs with a violin, offers a unique take on music through a lively and entertaining performance. You should definitely check out this set because it will stand out from those of the other artists and is something you shouldn't miss when given the opportunity to watch.

Songs to Check Out: Selfish Soul, Confessions, Home Maker

Peach Pit:

There are relatively few male bands on this list, and the curators of the All Things Go lineup made excellent choices in terms of who would be on the lineup. You'll be captivated by the performance of this Vancouver-based indie rock band, noted for their catchy guitar riffs and six-minute songs, who recently finished a brief headlining tour. Their independent debut, Being So Normal, sometimes referred to as "sad pop," garnered a global following and led them to sign with Columbia for their 2020 album You and Your Friends.

Songs to Check Out: Give Up Baby Go, Tommy’s Party, Shampoo Bottles

FLETCHER:

Fletcher's uniqueness stems from the fact that she doesn't represent an impossible celebrity ideal. When you're at her concert, she feels like a friend because she's genuine and real. Fletcher recently made the announcement of her deluxe album and released the song "Suckerpunch." - a song you NEED to hear live. She is worth a visit while you are at the fest since she is an excellent representative of both girls and gays.

Songs to Check Out: Undrunk, girls girls girls, Serial Heartbreaker

Lizzy McAlpine:

You could feel Lizzy McAlpine's calming and welcoming presence even if you had no idea who she was. She recently gained more notoriety at age 23 after her song “ceilings” went viral on TikTok. You should attend her concert, perhaps with a tissue in hand, as it fits in perfectly with the festival's overarching theme of sad girl music.

Songs to Check Out: Ceilings,  reckless driving, Pancakes for Dinner

Day 2:

Day two is filled with insane female/non-binary artists that will be super hard to choose between if any of their sets are up against each other. While we don’t know the set times yet, here are our picks:

Free Range:

Chicago based indie band – Off the Record is HIGHLY recommending you get to the festival early and see their set. While we may be biased because they are from our hometown, that doesn’t negate the fact that Free Range has an insane amount of talent.

Songs to check out: On Occasion, Free Range, Want to Know

Meet Me At the Altar:

All-girl American pop punk band, Meet Me At The Altar puts on a rockin performance that will energize the crowd in between some of the softer, sad performances throughout the day. They’ll just be off their tour opening up for 5 Seconds of Summer. We’ve seen them live before and trust us, if you want some fun, you’ll be at their stage when the time comes.

Songs to  should check out: T.M.I, Give It Up, Kool

Leith Ross:

Crossing the border over from Canada, and fresh from the release of their debut ‘To Learn’, 24-year-old Winnipeg native Leith Ross has been drawing justified comparison to the likes of Phoebe Bridgers, for their wise and tender storytelling. An Off the Record favorite – they were featured in our volume 1 zine, they and their band put on a very inclusive performance.

Songs to check out:  (You) On my Arm, Orlando, Everything Ends

MUNA:

There is a reason they were chosen to be an opener on Taylor Swift’s Era’s tour. Being an all non-men pop group filled with instrumentally talented individuals, they’ve collaborated with Phoebe Bridgers from Boy Genius, and are signed to her label. This is another performance to stop by for good vibes!

Songs to check out: Everything, What I Want, I Know a Place

Boy Genius:

While it was hard to choose between the two headliners, Boy Genius has recently struck a high level of success following the release of their sophomore album, ‘the record’. Composed of indie artists, Phoebe Bridgers, Julian Baker and Lucy Dacus, the trio puts on a great performance that you just cannot miss. The trio has toured heavily throughout 2023, with Dacus and Baker making an extra surprise appearance on stage with Bridgers when the singer-songwriter joined Taylor Swift on a string of Eras Tour dates in May.

Songs to check out: Not Strong Enough, Emily I’m Sorry, $20
