Future Thieves & Ember Oceans | 2/24/2018

Chicago’s Ember Oceans warmed up the city’s fans for a night of music fit for a summer drive with the windows down, even though it was a cool and rainy midwest evening. Similar to the headlining act, they blended keys with their indie rock, something that we found to be a breath of fresh air.

As we were enjoying the performance, we overheard one audience member tell another that the band was going to be a new favorite of theirs. We hadn’t heard of the band prior to attending this show, but we definitely agree.

Headliners Future Thieves filled Subterranean’s Downstairs room. The Nashville rockers drew fans from as far as 500 miles away. This was possibly further than the band had traveled, as remarked by singer and guitarist Elliot Collett.

The melodic, high-energy rock tunes had the entire room dancing and grooving along. The band played “Sucker”, a new release just in time for the upcoming spring weather, which only raised the crowd’s energy.
