Turnover Takes Over Tampa
Tampa, December 13th, 2022
Fresh off the release of their fifth studio album, Myself in the Way, Virginia Alternative band Turnover brought their headline tour to The Ritz Ybor in Tampa, Florida. In attendance were fans of all ages, old and new, to see the band accompanied by openers The Gas, Video Age, and Riki.
The Turnover show is different from that of other bands. The focus of the concert is solely on the music. It’s simple and sophisticated. There are no theatrics or over-the-top production elements; rather, the band focuses on playing the best live versions of the songs their fans love and adore. It’s refreshing. People were there to hear music, nothing else. The band completely let go of any sense of ego to graciously perform their music to fans who were grateful to get to experience hearing their favorite tracks live. The show wasn’t about the band; it was about their songs. The performance was intimate and connective. Turnover has truly created a community in its fanbase that truly appreciates the music that the band has made over the years.
Sonically turnover has come a long way. From the pop-punk sounds of their first record, Magnolia, to the soft emo notes of the iconic Peripheral Vision, to the smooth synth grooves of Myself in the Way, the Turnover sound is constantly evolving. The band somehow manages to seamlessly bring all of these elements together in a live performance that perfectly showcases the best of Turnover's past and present.
The band wrapped up the journey through their discography by playing top hits from Peripheral Vision like Dizzy on The Comedown, Cutting My Fingers Off, and Take My Head, which fans received enthusiastically by nostalgically screaming the words to the band’s classics.
If you are lucky enough to have Turnover make a tour stop in a city near you, you’re not gonna want to miss the opportunity to take in the variety of sounds delivered by the cult favorite alternative band.
