Mt. Joy Put on a Killer Two Night Performance in Chicago at the Salt Shed
Aug 22 2022: Mt. Joy @ The Salt Shed
Following the release of their 3rd full-length album, the five-piece indie folk band set out on tour. They had plans for two nights in Chicago at the Salt Shed, the first being on August 20th but was rescheduled due to bad weather.
That though did not stop them as they put on a vibrant psychedelic concert experience.
Like the warm display of orange colors on the stage, their songs sounded like a road trip through a mountainous area during the summer. Most of their songs ended with long outros as guitarist Sam Cooper soloed over the rhythm playing in the background. You could see that the members, Matt Quinn, Sam Cooper, Sotiris Eliopoulos, Jackie Miclau, and Michael Byrnes were having fun. The energy from the crowd was calm but energetic and that created a deep intimate connection between them and the group.
Mt. Joy’s opening song “Orange Blood” was a soft introduction to the euphoric atmosphere the band would be exploring the rest of the night. Throughout the show, they did perform some of their more explosive songs that made everyone stop and bob their heads like “Lemon Tree” and “Acrobats”. You could tell they put a lot of effort into their show to curate a fluid adventure for everyone to experience.
