Shakey Graves takes on a sold out show in Chicago

CHICAGO, November 17th 2023

Fans lined up in the freezing cold around 6:00 pm, an hour before doors opened, making sure to solidify their front row spot to see Shakey Graves take the stage at The Salt Shed.

Alejandro Rose-Garcia, better known as Shakey Graves, is known for his versatility in music, being able to play solo acoustic songs such as “Late July” to full-band rock songs like “The Perfect Parts” within the first three songs of the set. His stage presence is so natural and kept the crowd dancing the whole night.

For each show he does on this tour, he announces a relatable theme – for Chicago it was ‘time slipping away’. The theme worked well with his set and also had a cinematic feel of the show; the lights were bright and storytelling through his music– especially when he covered “A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes,” from Cinderella.

Rose-Garcia’s most recent album Movie Of The Week, was approached like making a literal movie soundtrack, which transitioned flawlessly to his live performance. He and his band all wrote the album in quarantine at his drummer’s studio, admitting that when he was working on the project he didn’t think he would have the chance to perform live ever again.

Little did he know that he would be able to tour all around Europe and North America, and of course sell out Chicago’s Salt Shed. Fans showed him all of the love by already knowing the words to his new songs like “Evergreen” and “Big In The World,” as well as popular tracks like “Tomorrow” and “Dearly Departed.”

Shakey Graves will go on a short tour run next year, supporting Tyler Childers.
