Greta Van Fleet @ Hard Rock Live
Hollywood, FL - March 8, 2023
GRETA VAN FLEET
After a brief pause, Greta Van Fleet took the stage this March, returning better than ever, to finish out the remainder of their Dreams IN Gold tour. Playing ten different shows, nine of them being shows that were postponed last October due to an injury lead singer (Josh Kiszka) received at their show in Bangor, Maine. A tour that was started last March and comes to a close at the end of the month.
Starting out the night with a 30 minute set from Robert Finely, bringing a soulful, bluesy sound that is sure to get any crowd moving. Following shortly after, with a 45 minute set is Houndmouth who is set to start their own tour later this month. This band in particular brings a lot of energy to the crowd, many fans already familiar with both bands because they were previous support for some of the fall dates. Houndmouth is known to get crowds energized and prepared for what is to come with Greta Van Fleet.
As soon as the curtain is put up, the crowd within the venue erupts and the intense anticipation sets in. It’s built upon further with “Reasons for Waiting” and some anxiety building music, just before Josh’s introduction monologue. Speaking about life, death, love, letting go and many things that we choose to not acknowledge in our day to day life but weigh heavily on most minds. It is shortly followed by flashing lights behind the curtain and incredible vocalizations. As the music builds, the curtain drops as the first few notes of “Built By Nations” are played, leaving the entire venue to let out everything that has been building up throughout the night.
Hitting the stage with immense energy and never once letting up throughout the night. This is a band that feeds off of the energy of the crowd. The more energy the pit and entire venue has, the more energy these guys put out. They put everything they have into every song on the set list.
By far the best performance you will ever see from a band is their performance of “Age of Machine”. Everything that goes into this performance, the message, the lighting, the vocals, the instrumentals, they’re are all tied perfectly together giving an insane visual to an extremely fitting song for our time. It’s an euphoric experience that I believe everyone needs to experience.
If you have a chance to catch one of the five remaining show dates for their Dreams In Gold Tour, I highly encourage you to do so. Buy the tickets and take the trip. Though if you are unable to make one of these tour dates, they will be performing at multiple music festivals this year and a new album seems to be lurking around the corner. With what one could assume a tour would follow with, so be on the look out for that!
