Melanie Martinez transforms Aragon Ballroom into a mythical fairytale

On July 11th Melanie Martinez brought their portals tour to Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom, transforming it into the visual world of their albums of the same name. Martinez made the bold decision to compile their tour setlist of just the new album, playing it in order as the complexities of the fairytale world they’ve created deserve. While there was a lot of discourse online leading up to the shows about Martinez’s choice to not include any previous work that put them on the map originally (and is still widely popular), the show flew by with each song getting more energy from the crowd than the previous. Fans of all kinds stepped up for Martinez in their own fitting mythically inspired costumes as they took the stage in the classic character costume of their Portals dream world.
