The Music Hall of Williamsburg Gets a Taste of Sweet Pill

Brooklyn, New York - May 9th, 2024

So sweet you’ll get a toothache, Sweet Pill is enthralling to see live. Bringing you punchy emo from Philadelphia Pennsylvania, they started their career playing house shows and have grown enormously since, selling out Brooklyn’s very own Music Hall of Williamsburg on their first headlining tour.

New York quartet Taking Meds opened the show with enormous energy, followed by Equipment, bringing their Ohio-based emo band to a New York stage. With no barricade and a low stage, Music Hall of Williamsburg lets the crowd share the space with the performers, creating a sense of community throughout the show.

Sweet Pill is energetic, personal, and engaging. Lead singer Zayna jumps and dances around the stage, eager to interact with the crowd and put on a good show. She and the band love what they do and it is evident. They put their all into their performances and their genuine joy to be on stage is clear to any audience that has the pleasure of seeing them.      Playing classics from their album Where The Heart Is as well as songs off their new EP Starchild, the crowd knew every lyric, resulting in Zayna turning the microphone towards them on multiple occasions.

Energy-filled, each song got the rowdy crowd sweatier. Sweet Pill stopped the show mid-set to acknowledge the community their music had created and pointed out how lovely and special this moment was, thanking their fans for always creating a safe and kind space for each other and the band.

Nearing the end of their set, as per tour tradition, the band brought up some people from the crowd to sing the second half of their song Blood. Usually choosing someone who’s been singing the most throughout their set, New York got the treat of seeing two concert-goers chosen to dance around the stage and sing with Sweet Pill.

Engaging, kind, and a joy to witness, Sweet Pill cares about the people who care about their music. With shows that are consistently full of love, community, and great music, Sweet Pill is important. This is definitely a band to look out for!
