A Soft Spark Ignites Billie Marten’s North American Tour
Toronto, Canada - November 28, 2025
Billie Marten played to a packed crowd in Toronto at the Mod Club on Friday night, marking the opening night of the North American leg of her Dog Eared Tour. The tour shares its name with her fifth and most recent album, released earlier this year on July 18th, and the show felt very much like a celebration of its intimate, contemplative spirit.
The set carried a mellow ease from the very beginning and featured stunning visuals resembling the Dog Eared album cover. Joined on stage by Katie Martucci on bass and Andrew Maguire on drums, the trio performed beautiful arrangements of Billie’s music – each song full of delicate emotion. Billie’s soft but powerful vocals shone through effortlessly and were the clear centerpiece of the evening.
Midway through the set, Billie performed a handful of songs solo, accompanied only by her acoustic guitar. Her vocals during these songs were truly striking and the crowd watched with a quiet reverence as her voice filled the entire venue.
“No Sudden Changes“ stood out in particular, which steadily built in momentum and featured the soft shimmer of windchimes which felt nothing short of magical. “Crown” is a staple of Billie’s discography and was a fan-favourite, along with “Vanilla Baby” which sparked an eruption of applause from the crowd as soon as she finished its final line.
Between songs, the night was laced with warm exchanges between Billie and the audience that made the show feel less like a concert and more like a big roomful of friends sharing music. Early on in the night, she introduced her ‘feline son” Pip, who was pictured on the kickdrum before immediately laughing and joking that she probably shouldn’t have mentioned it since no one could actually see him. Naturally, this opened the door for a flurry of cat-name exchanges including a fan’s cat named Phoebe and a cat named Toulouse, the latter quickly being crowned as the winner by Billie as she moved into her song sharing the same name.
The atmosphere remained warm and communal throughout the set. It was very clear that everyone in attendance was not only there to watch the performance, but to really take in and appreciate the music. It was a beautiful showcase of musicianship and genuine connection.
Near the end of her set, Billie invited Núria Graham back out, who had opened the show, offering a heartfelt introduction and explaining how closely they worked together on Dog Eared. She described their creative process as being “intertwined”, and this was their first time performing together live, which made the moment feel particularly special.
Before the encore, Billie closed the main set with a tender farewell, saying: “Toronto, you’ve always been my favourite.” She returned to the stage with “Swing”, leading the audience with a light, interactive singalong that carried the show to an upbeat finish and imbued the audience with a feel-good energy. As fans filtered out into the night, conversations about the strength of her performance echoed through the venue.
The Dog Eared Tour continues across North America for the next two weeks and is an experience well worth catching. Check out Billie’s tour stops here.
