Nashville native Chloe Kohanski, known as the lead singer of the New York based band sweet93, performed at The Blue Room in Nashville on Saturday night. The venue, lit in deep blue and naturally cozy, became the perfect atmosphere for their shoegaze influenced sound. sweet93 opened the night ahead of Her New Knife and headliner Cowgirl Clue. They moved through tracks from their 2021 album All the Same All Ok, performing songs such as “Wonder,” “Free (Afternoon Idea),” and “You Decide.” “I Do, On and On I Wait” sits near the end of the album and perfectly captures the essence of sweet93, shifting from a soft, dreamlike sound into something heavier and grungier that makes you naturally sway with the beat. “Losing Time,” placed in the middle of the tracklist, feels airy and emotional, shaped by angelic harmonies and a reflective sense of how time slips away. “Wonder” remains a beloved track, carrying a touch of Weyes Blood and a hint of Beach House while still maintaining the band’s own identity.
