grandson Ignites Toronto on the INERTIA Tour

Toronto, Canada - December 12, 2025

With the lights dim in Toronto’s Phoenix Concert Theatre and Rage Against The Machine’s “Killing In The Name” rattling through the speakers, grandson walked out on stage to an unrelenting audience screaming “Fuck you, I won’t do what you tell me” along with the queued up track. Growing up in Toronto, the show marked grandson’s first hometown headliner as a completely independent artist, and the crowd was more than ecstatic to take in every moment.

Starting the show full force, the band immediately ripped into “AUTONOMOUS DELIVERY ROBOT”, thrashing and jumping across the stage. “I’m homeeee” grandson vocalizes to the audience after the opening couple of tracks, met with an excited chorus of cheers that fill the room. Taking a couple moments to lay out the evening ahead, grandson promises to play his latest record, INERTIA, in its entirety, as well as with a variety of older songs from throughout his discography, offering something for every fan.

After guaranteeing an unforgettable night, grandson continues to stress his gratitude to each and every fan in the building, clearly stating that everyone, as they are, are welcome in the room and that this is a place of both love and respect. “Whatever it is that brought you here, whatever it is you have to get off your chest, I hope you find it”, grandson preaches to the crowd before jumping right back into the high energy setlist.

Songs like “BELLS OF WAR”, “Stigmata”, and “Overdose” are met with a thrashing audience, screaming and moshing along to each track. Previously called “alt-rock’s feistiest agitator” by the likes of Apple Music, grandson is leading by example, unrelenting in using his music to critique and challenge the modern world. Songs like “Darkside” and “PULL THE TRIGGER” address gun violence in the United States with lyrics like “My skin is white so you would say I need a therapist / if it was brown you call me a terrorist”

Moving through the setlist, “YOU MADE ME THIS WAY” is a reflection of the state of social services and the pro life movement, critiquing the lack of social support for young families and single mothers who are abandoned by a system that insists they have a child while denying autonomy and safe abortion options. In between tracks, grandson continuously takes the time to speak directly about the issues addressed in his music, as cheers against the growing fascist movement and shouts of “Free Palestine” break out throughout the audience.

Each track on the setlist is met with a chorus of cheers, as the audience proves their dedication by screaming along to the lyrics of each song back at the stage. Taking the opportunity to thank long time fans, “Best Friends” reaches the setlist for the first time this tour, with grandson reminiscing on the fact the track was one of his first releases. The show continues late into the night, as the audience demands a first, and then second encore which the band is more than happy to oblige.

Creating a space for people to express their rage, grandson also takes the time to encourage the audience to take care of themselves, acknowledging that those who feel most deeply about social issues often suffer for it. Arguably one of the most important artists right now, grandson has no problem calling things as they are, creating a community that supports each other as well as unrelentingly fighting for a better world.

At the end of the North American leg of the INERTIA tour, catch grandson when he heads to Europe in the new year. Stream INERTIA, out now.
