ALEXSUCKS rocks out with SOLD OUT Chicago Crowd
Chicago, Illinois - March 18th, 2025
ALEXSUCKS fans were brimming with anticipation, made evident from the line wrapped around the Schubas Tavern street corner to the stage’s edge that mid-March Tuesday night. March 18th brought Alex’s dedicated fanbase ready to mosh, chant, and have an overall energetic time, following the release of his most recent single, “Worm in the Sun,” and the midway point of the band’s DANCE PUNCH CRY Tour.
The show started when the first chords to “Worm in the Sun” were strummed and lead vocalist Alex, Drummer Jonny, Bassist DJ TOPGUN, and Guitarist John appeared on stage. The screams from the crowd swelled as the music filled the room. Though the crowd was riled up from opener Max Diaz and his band, they brought a whole new wave of energy for ALEXSUCKS to absorb and reciprocate through their performance. Alex flowed through his discography, and fans knew every lyric, seriously. DJ TOPGUN even asked the crowd how long they drove to be there that night, and people shared that they drove 3, 5, and even 9 hours. If that isn’t dedication, I don't know what is. Some people even “toured” with the band by following and attending multiple ALEXSUCKS concerts in different cities.
Alex was in constant movement; jumping around the stage, leaning into different sides of the crowd during high-energy moments in the performance, all of which contributed to the night feeling immersive and a truly grounding experience. Despite all this high energy during the majority of the set, there was one song that brought the moshing and chanting to a record for the night. “6 Pack and Cigarettes” was the encore song saved for last, and for good reason. Chicago brought everything they had for this last song, as the crowd screamed the repeating lyrics “hey hey hey hey” and jumped to the beat, ending the night in an explosion of energy and smiles.
ALEXSUCKS stands out in the music scene thanks to his fresh take on the indie/ alternative rock scene, and he just announced another tour. He will also be performing at Chicago’s Lollapalooza Music Festival this July/August, so if you’re in town and have the means, definitely experience one of his sets live!
[I wanted to include the random side note: The band’s drummer, Jonny Ransom, is the founder and owner of Ransom Clothing, a clothing brand I’ve been following for years and years - and I didn’t even realize that until I got home and checked out the band members’ instagram pages to tag them in my post of photos from that night. Crazy!]
