54 Ultra Enchants Chicago at Lincoln Hall

Chicago, Illinois - January 15, 2025

As the lights dimmed and a soothing sound started to play, 54 Ultra enchanted the stage with their second show in Chicago, kicking off their tour. Starting off with “No Tengo Valor”, an upbeat grunge track with a 70s Latin soul flavor, the band immediately set the tone for the night at Lincoln Hall on January 15th. The crowd was packed wall to wall and swaying side to side with the sold-out show.

From the very beginning, 54 Ultra demonstrated an effortless ability and nonchalance to blend eras and emotions. Their sound moved seamlessly between dreamy indie textures, classic soul influences, and gritty rock undertones with Latin influence. The band itself had amazing chemistry, being able to flow effortlessly through each song with ease.

Frontman Johnny Lopez commanded the stage with a calm confidence, greeting Chicago after the second song. His vocals carried through the venue with a raw and soft tenderness, singing about themes of longing, love, and self-reflection as the lights glowed from red to yellow. Between songs, a few brief interactions with the audience added some warmth, making the performance feel personal and intimate.

Some of the highlights of the set included a few well-known tracks, such as “Heaven Knows” and “Upside Down”. Along with introducing his latest single, “Find Your Love”,  Lincoln Hall felt suspended in time, and the vibe was incredibly intimate despite being a super-packed show.

Closing out the night, 54 Ultra left the stage to roaring applause and a great expression of gratitude, the kind that lingers long after the lights come back on. The tour is just getting started with 14 dates left across North America. Tickets are available on his website.
