Summer Salt Brings Warmth to Toronto
February 10, 2026 - Toronto, Canada
As the crowd packed into Toronto’s The Mod Club to escape the cold Tuesday night, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, excited chatter dancing across the room as the audience anticipated the night to come. Since their inception in 2012, Summer Salt has become known for their signature sound, a combination of light, breezy surf pop and retro indie rock that’s balanced by the depth of reflection and emotion throughout their discography.
Accompanied by openers Boyscott and Wabie, the whole evening felt like a welcome home, slipping back into the comfortable embrace of the familiar, the feeling of knowing that everything is going to be okay, if only for that moment. As soon as Summer Salt played the first opening notes, the crowd inched forward, drawn into the magnetic energy of the band.
With each member pushed right up to the front of the stage, there was little distance between the band and the audience, amplifying the feeling of connection in the room. “I’m happy there’s no barrier” lead singer Matthew Terry spoke out into the crowd after the first couple songs, “we can all be here close together tonight.”
Much to the delight of the audience, the tracklist was dominated by tracks off of their latest record, Reside, which was released at the beginning of November last year. Through Reside, Summer Salt pushes the boundaries of their tone into something new, experimenting towards the future while respecting the essence and atmosphere that has thus far defined their journey.
On stage, Summer Salt took turns trading vocals between members, slipping into the lead vocals and sharing harmonies with a practiced ease that feels like the band was made to share the same stage. Throughout the audience, friends and lovers dance, sway, and sing together, sharing the quiet, intimate moments curated by the band with huge smiles on their faces.
Amidst the craziness and rush of the outside world, Summer Salt offers a place to slow down and appreciate where you are in this place in time. A perfect set to feed your soul, Summer Salt leaves the audience refreshed and optimistic, ready to take on the world knowing they have a place of comfort to come home to. Catch them on tour in North America, continuing until the beginning of March before they leave for the UK and Europe later in the Spring.
