The Wombats Dazzled Nashville On Their Final Tour Stop
Nashville, Tennessee - February 21, 2026
The Wombats dazzled Nashville during the final stop of their month-long North American 2026 Tour. Fans filled the ground floor and balcony of the Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville, TN, excited for a night of jamming to indie rock. The night began with a passionate and rowdy performance by their opener, Cigarettes @ Sunset, well known for championing the genre of “Possum Rock.” Next up, The Wombats entered the stage and were met with an echo of cheering fans.
Matthew Murphy on lead vocals played both guitar and keys, artfully blending the sounds. Dan Haggis was powerful on the drums, setting the tone for the crowd to move along to the beat. The energy from bassist, Tord Øverland Knudsen, was electric. He buzzed around on stage, jumping and leaping high into the air, his excitement was contagious and had the crowd fully engaged, dancing and losing themselves in the music.
The Wombats are most known for their song “Greek Tragedy”, which went viral on TikTok back in 2021. Yet, The Wombats are not new to the indie music scene. In fact, The Wombats have been performing together since 2003, leaving a legacy for fans to experience their nostalgic sound throughout multiple eras of their lives. Fans in the crowd spanned all ages, making it clear that the sound of The Wombats transcends generations.
The Wombats kicked off 2025 with their return and sixth studio album Oh! The Ocean. The album features 12 songs, including “Reality Is A Wild Ride”, “Lobster”, “The World’s Not Out To Get Me, I Am”, and “My Head Is Not My Friend.” Their setlist tonight included a mixture of classic and newer songs, allowing fans to connect regardless of which of their many album might be their favorite.
Part-way through their set, their iconic mascot (yes, someone in an actual wombat costume), ran along the barricade. He held a packet of paper with letters on them and passed the sheets of paper to folks along the barricade. The crowd was curious, excited to uncover the message the pieces of paper would create once the front row held them up. The message read “I <3 The Wombats”! The wombat mascot then rolled onto the stage, grabbing a green trumpet, and began performing alongside the band. Pure joy rang through the audience as the room came alive with the instruments. Certainly an epic finale to their North American tour!
