The Technicolors Delivers Much-Needed Serotonin to Nashville

Nashville, Tennessee - March 18, 2026

The Technicolors trekked straight through from California to Nashville to bring the Heavy Pulp tour to Music City this past Wednesday night. Everyone quickly filed into The Row at Cannery Hall, packing the room from wall to wall. On this leg of the tour, they are accompanied by Nashville’s very own Veaux – an alt-pop trio that took the restless energy in the room and transformed it into pure euphoria despite early technical difficulties with the set.

As the lights dimmed and the house music cut off, The Technicolors took the stage with the quiet confidence that only time and experience can bring. The Heavy Pulp tour comes after the late-summer 2025 release of Heavy Pulp, the band’s first album since 2021. There wasn’t a hiatus, just some much-needed rest, a few major life events,  and a reset on the creative process often designed to burn creatives out. It is easy to say good things take time, but the classic adage is popular for a reason, and over three years of writing really paid off for the Technicolors this time around.

They start with the heavy-hitter, “I’ll Love You Someday,” the lead song from their 2015 LP, Ultraviolet Disguise. It is a song that feels like it could have been released in 2003 as opposed to its actual release date in the 2010s. For a moment, time contorts, and the room could just as easily be in New York in the late 1990s with indie rock powerhouse groups like The Strokes on the rise as it could be in Nashville circa 2026.

Over the course of the night, The Technicolors build a masterful setlist, highlighting Heavy Pulp while still paying homage to their hits, a lot of which gained great popularity during the years they weren’t releasing music. The crowd knows every word and every beat, jumping, shouting, and swaying as the night continues. They keep the set banter to a minimum, intent on bringing as much music as possible to the time they have on the stage, but make sure to shout out “Posh Spice.” Frontman Brennan Smiley introduces the song as the opus behind their latest project, and both the band and the crowd light up with every note.

The set maintains its fiery energy throughout the night, but one of the sweetest moments comes during “Space Cadet” from their 2016 EP Sweat. Phones come out, and flashlights go up, washing the room in a soft blue glow as the crowd sways gently. The moment feels like a deep, preparatory breath before the final stretch of indie rock perfection envelops the room.

The Technicolors will be making a few more East Coast stops before they call it a wrap on the Heavy Pulp Tour. Find tickets here.
