Falling in Love Again with Joyce Manor at Brooklyn Paramount

March 24, 2026 - Brooklyn, New York

All the way from California, Joyce Manor returned to New York’s Brooklyn Paramount this past week while touring their new album, I Used to Go to This Bar. Their first release since 2022, Joyce Manor stays true to their signature sound throughout the record, even including a re-recorded version of their first song, “Well, Don’t It Seem Like You’ve Been Here Before?” With openers, Combat, Teen Mortgage, and Militarie Gun, the beautifully grand Brooklyn Paramount was conquered by mosh pits and crowd surfers.

Songs about adolescent angst never get old with Joyce Manor. They started off their set with their most well known songs such as, “Beach Community”, and “Heart tattoo”, a fast paced tune about being young and getting a meaningless tattoo. As they move into their newer music, they explore a more mature sound that explores the transition to the disappointment and struggle of adulthood. “All My Friends Are so Depressed”, is softer and less intense, setting the tone for a lot of their newer work.

Joyce Manor thrives off of nostalgia, songs about the past and adolescence, and how they translate to a just as unsatisfactory adulthood. Frontman Barry Johnson sings, “Got run over by my dream car” in their song, “Well, Whatever it was”, further exploring the confusion of growing up. Having formed in 2008 and now reaching their late 30s, Joyce Manor still captures the fear and challenge of aging with a witty sense of humor. They closed out their set with a fan favorite in the encore, “Catalina Fight Song”, getting the crowd rowdy one more time before the curtains closed.

Joyce Manor’s tour is far from over as they will be on playing shows until June, ending the summer at the newly resurrected Vans Warped Tour before heading to Europe. An unforgettable experience, their energy is unique and fiery, it would be a shame to miss such a good pit.
