Ritt Momney redefines intimacy while performing at Thalia Hall’s “In the Round”
Chicago, Illinois - April 12, 2026
Ritt Momney is constantly proving his excellence in sound and passion within his music. His combination of wistful lyricism in conjunction alongside his elaborate production develops an emotional sonic experience stemming from both the intimate and the experimental. His latest record, BASE, continued to play with his love for noise, playing around with emptiness and loudness for a deep investigation of isolation and immersion. Following the album’s release in February, Ritt Momney has made it a goal to bring the same magic of BASE to the stage on his upcoming North American tour.
Thalia Hall was the perfect venue for Ritt Momney to see his latest project come to life. Instead of opting to just perform on the stage, he decided to perform an “In the Round” show. The stage was constructed in the middle of the standing room area, so fans surrounded the stage in a circle; the arrangement certainly made the audience feel further interconnected with the music and the emotions of the band as they performed.
The concert started with the title track “BASE.” Following the same opening of the album, the sonic world is enchanting right from the get-go. Even with heavy distortion on his voice, Ritt Momney’s vocals still sounded silky and heavenly in every note he hit. Throughout the song’s full run-time, the venue remained almost entirely immersed in darkness, proving that Ritt Momney wasn’t there just to be flashy. The audience just got to sit and simply feel the music as it vibrated through them. It was a powerful and compelling moment, and it excellently set the tone for the rest of the evening.
Ritt Momney’s wife, Lindsay, joining him on stage
As the band dove deeper into the set, Ritt Momney kept energy high with an electric performance of his classic “HEADSTART.” The track was slightly slowed down at the beginning, which invoked an emotional sensation of lingering and yearning that made the lyrics of the song hit that much harder. When the beat drop kicked in, rich colored lighting began to wade alongside the song to make listeners connect with the art of performance visually in addition to the outstanding quality of the music itself. “IF” was another bright splash of fun throughout the set. The ambient sound of the song translated really well to a live version and was only more emphasized in the moment through the inclusion of more bass and guitar than the original recording of the song. If anyone refused to dance alongside to “IF,” they were missing out; it was one of the greatest highlights of the evening.
The show managed a spectacular balance between upbeat bangers and more personal, relaxed melodies. One of the most special of these moments where Ritt Momney broke down emotional barriers was during the performance of the song “DOG.” Lindsay, the singer’s wife, joined him on stage to perform the track. The two are clearly destined to be together; their voices melded together for a vulnerable performance filled with harmonies that were nothing short of perfection. You would’ve been able to hear a pin drop (and maybe a few tears, too) in the venue due to how focused everyone in the audience was on the touching performance full of such genuine love.
The rest of the on-stage chemistry was palpable, too; in addition to some of his own bandmates, Ritt Momney performed several songs with the members of the band Mercury, who opened up the show with an absolutely spectacular performance. They were full of banter and laughter with themselves and with the audience, and they even improvised an entire song while trying to track down where their bandmate Justin Blanner was when they needed him to tag in for a couple of songs. Seeing the show felt like hanging out with your group of friends, and the raw exuberance of pure enjoyment from the music was so inspiring to watch and feel as an audience member. Ritt Momney built a community at his show of Thalia Hall that felt close-knit and personal throughout the entirety of the evening.
At the end of the set, nobody wanted to leave; not even Ritt Momney himself. They questioned whether they could play another song or not; unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and the band had to take their bow and head out for the evening. However, the lasting memories of Ritt Momney’s intimate night in Thalia Hall will never fade away. It was a raw, beautiful performance that attested to how genuine and inventive of an artist Ritt Momney truly is.
Ritt Momney will continue his tour through the last few weeks of April until his final show in mid-May, hitting stops in cities like Los Angeles, Houston, Salt Lake City, and more. You can check out the full list of dates here.
