Searows Is a Guiding Light For a Ship Lost At Sea

Chicago, Illinois - May 15, 2026

There is something so singular about the unity that comes together in a crowd of Searows fans. Just for a night everyone in Metro, Chicago formed one powerful entity of care and gritted grace. Determined to feel moved and seen by the pure poetry that is Searows.

Multiple fans expressed loudly their admiration for the music saying, “you saved my life!”. While Alec Duckart (Searows) did not formally address the exclamations, the mutual care was felt throughout the room. With music so personal, it feels almost hard not to connect with those around you and find reasons to see through the fogged up glass that we all tend to hide behind. It’s nice to be able to see through the fog every once in a while isn’t it? In watching Searows perform I thought a lot about my best friend. Someone who is so emotionally intelligent and always trying to learn how to best tune into their inner self to truthfully honor their bright hot and glimmering outer self. I found the lyrical content of Searows setlist, made up of a mixture of songs off his most recent album Death in the Business of Whaling as well as a couple songs from his first record and EP, to hold true to those same qualities. Each and every fan in that crowd understood that for an hour and half we were there as witnesses to a confession of grief, growing up, anxiety, healing, and everything in between. And by the time the show was wrapping up it was then our turn to bear the torch and continue to spread the same message of grace amongst healing that Searows left out on that stage.

Searows music enlightens thoughts in listeners who might have previously assumed they were alone in what they were feeling. I find that magical. The power that music can have to read your mind and worm its way into the deepest and darkest hiding places in your heart. Searows knows how to hit that perfect bullseye arrow right into your chest. Struck by every chord and every word, one after the other you feel your body giving way to the emotions that you’ve been holding onto all your life.
