Bleary Celebrates Album Release in Nashville
Nashville, Tennessee - May 28, 2026
After several years devoted to refining their debut album, Bleary released little brain on May 15, 2026. This 11 track album blends together themes of melancholy, longing, and reflection that certainly resonated with Nashville fans at the Blue Room. Audience members arrived dressed in a mix of 90s grunge and Tumblr core aesthetics. Looking around, the space was filled with flowy long skirts, silver jewelry, combat boots, and cigarettes shared among groups of friends. The Blue Room is an intimate venue, and as the name suggests, totally blue. On the ceiling was a blue disco ball and a blue elephant. The ceilings were coated in the sparkly blue pattern reflected from the lighting fixtures. It was easy to be transported into the world of Bleary’s album little brain.
The show was opened by artists Swimming Sisters and Oscar Lindsey. Between sets, friends hung out and lounged in the outdoor garden-like space right outside the doors of the Blue Room or took photos in the photo booth. The night was casual, intended for a night of togetherness and enjoying the live music.
As Bleary’s set began with their hit song “bug”, the vocals of Callan Dwan and Peter Mercer intertwined, creating a layered and mesmerizing sound. The setlist continued on to “sugar splint”, “putty”, and then “divine proportion.” The audience gently swayed and danced under the disco lights, truly a celebration for this album release show. The band performed a mixture of new songs and songs off their latest album. What stands out most about Bleary is their ability to allow space for their lyrics to breathe and how they transition from intense guitar solos and drum moments to calmer melodies. It feels similar to how a summer storm brews and then gently rains, washing over a feeling of calmness and serenity.
