Prince Daddy & the Hyena Hypes Up Chicago On Hotwire Trip Switch Tour
Chicago, Illinois - May 29, 2026
On the last Friday of May, Prince Daddy & the Hyena brought the Hotwire Trip Switch tour to Chicago’s Lincoln Hall. Fans lined up against the vibrant “Alley of Dreams” mural, eagerly awaiting for the doors to open for their chance to be front row. Emo rock band Leisure Hour set the tone of the night, sparking high energy and a friendly ambience which provided the crowd with immediate comfort. Chicago natives Rat Tally were next up with calmer indie rock riffs and hard-hitting choruses that kept the audience warmed up. Remo Drive were the final openers, a fellow rock band joining Prince Daddy & the Hyena for the North American tour. All three bands bantered with fans between songs, bringing laughter and keeping fun energy going for the headliner.
Prince Daddy & the Hyena is made up of vocalist and guitarist Kory Gregory, guitarist Cameron Handford, drummer Daniel Gorham, and touring bassist Jordan Chmielowski. From Albany, New York, the punk rock band formed in 2014 and released their fourth studio album, Hotwire Trip Switch, this past April. Bright pink and blue clouds, as featured on the album cover, backdrop the stage, illuminated by red strobe lights as the 4-piece rolls out.
Opening the set with the first song off the new album, “24-03-04_Birthday_B4,” fans rush forward. A mosh pit expands the middle of the crowd and fans scramble to dance on stage before diving onto the electric crowd.
The setlist included songs from nearly every body of their work, notably featuring some of their biggest hits like “***HIDDEN TRACK***” off their debut EP Adult Summers, and “I Forgot To Take My Meds Today” from their debut album I Thought You Didn’t Even Like Leaving. Throughout the entire 27-song set, fans never let down the vibrant energy, keeping the push pit open all night and consistently catching stage divers to crowd surf. Fans screamed and sang in unison, matching Kory’s melodic roaring vocals. Each band member fed off the crowd’s energy, jumping, striding and ensuring not to waste a single inch of the stage.
By the night’s end, smiles had stretched across the faces of each and every person in the room. Every band and fan made a room full of hundreds of strangers feel as intimate as a basement show. New friendships formed throughout the night, making it an unforgettable and heartwarming experience. You don’t want to miss the chance to experience a night of raw emotion, infectious energy and the kind of human connection only live rock music precipitates.
