Cult of Lambrini Girls

Toronto, Ontario - June 20, 2026

“ARE YOU HERE FOR A PUNK SHOW?!” lead singer Phoebe Lunny yelled into the mic as Lambrini Girls walked on stage Saturday night at Toronto’s The Concert Hall, the audience pushing forwards as a chorus of cheers roared from the crowd. Walking up to the front of the stage, Lunny immediately motioned for the audience to split, climbing over the barrier and into the crowd, setting the ground rules for exactly how the night was going to go.

Made up of Phoebe Lunny and Selin Macieira Boşgelmez, Lambrini Girls commanded the room with an unparalleled air of confidence, the audience eating up every moment as the pair jumped and thrashed across the stage. Credited as a leading force in the revival of riot grrrl, Lambrini Girls manifests an unmistakable air of rage through their music, lyrics addressing sexual harassment, gender inequality, racism, and facisim, amongst other issues.

More than just their lyrics, Lambrini Girls took the time in between songs to address a variety of pressing social issues, speaking on gender inequality and trans rights before leading a “Free Palestine” chant. Ripping through their setlist, the band continuously pushed the energy in the building, demanding more from the audience each song. Their latest single, “Cult of Celebrity” made an appearance on the setlist, the commitment of the audience clear as they screamed every word back at the band as a continuous wave of crowdsurfers fell towards the stage

Woven through the rage palpable in the music is a glimpse of excitement, a sense of fun rippling through the audience and onto the stage as the crowd shared sweaty smiles in breaks from moshing and laughs from shared jokes being passed on stage. Songs like “Help Me I’m Gay” were met with a chorus of cheers as the audience erupted into a fit of thrashing, laughter bouncing through the room as Lunny jumped back into the crowd to ask those who identify as a “gay legend" to put their hand up in between songs.

Warning the audience there will be no encore, that this was the time to leave everything out there, the band invited opener Big Girl back on stage before ripping into “Cuntology 101”, the crowd screaming “C-U-N-T, I’m going to do what’s best for me” in time with the band. Closing out the night with “Big Dick Energy”, the appreciative cheering lasted long after the final notes, the audience taking in every last moment as they finally had a chance to catch their breath at the end of the set.

More than the latest sound in the long history of queer punk bands carving out their own space, Lambrini Girls offer something more, a modern rage woven through their music that says they are not going anywhere, whether they are liked or not. A Lambrini Girls show is an incomparable cathartic experience, a space for screaming and anger as much as it is for love and celebration of our care for one another. Catch them now as they hit the summer festival circuit before returning to North America for more headlining shows this fall.
