Your Arms Are My Cocoon Embrace Chicago’s Heavy Hearts
Chicago, Illinois - June 2, 2026
On a warm Tuesday night, Your Arms Are My Cocoon headlined Bottom Lounge, a smaller venue existing under the CTA tracks in Chicago’s West Loop, bringing literal and figurative underground vibes. Local lo-fi screamo band Summer 2000 kicked the night off with dreamlike instrumentals and punching vocals. Asian Glow took the stage next, bringing emo shoegaze from South Korea for the first show of their debut U.S tour. They summoned crowd surfers and a pit that swallowed half the room, warming fans up for the final performance of the night.
Chicago-based screamo bedroom pop band Your Arms Are My Cocoon drifted to stage, and fans were immediately entranced. The set opened with a calming melodic keyboard that slowly bled into eerie, distorted static before fading out entirely. Frontman Tyler Odom softly strums the opening chords of “houston,” a track off their only album death of a rabbit. The song encapsulates their discography perfectly, easing in with a sullen melody before erupting into heavy-hitting screamo, all while maintaining the same heart-wrenching lyricism. Pure anguish and distress carved across Tyler's face through his raw vocals, filling the room with an ache that everyone there seemed to already know.
death of a rabbit is an album that feels like grieving with someone — something fans reach for in their hardest moments. That intimacy was made visceral when Tyler stepped off the stage and leaned into the crowd, fans surging toward him, screaming every word back as if to prove that his pain had always been theirs too.
Moving down the setlist with more electronic influenced fast-paced songs like “muffled beneath the sound of the ocean“ and “Snowy!” fans pulsed and thrashed across the crowd. The band kept the emotional yet electric energy going all the way through. When YAAMC left the stage, fans deafeningly chanted “ONE MORE SONG!” until Tyler made a solo return. The opening chords of "Metamorphosis" rang through the crowd before the rest of the band joined the stage, filling the room with one last rush of energy before the night came to a close.
Bassist Dominic Baylock and drummer Naser Mansour of YAAMC are joining Asian Glow for the remainder of their tour which you can buy tickets for here.
