Charlotte Sands Pulls Nashville Into Her Orbit
Nashville, Tennessee - September 9, 2026
Charlotte Sands kicked off her Satellite Tour on Wednesday night at Nashville’s Exit/In to a captive audience. A line with fans eager to be as close to the action as possible wrapped around the block before doors opened at 7pm, scurrying quickly towards the front of the room as soon as the venue scanned their tickets. Fans didn’t have to wait long for the music to start. Opener Hooked Like Helen, kicked the night off around 7:15pm, quickly followed by Out in Front who both set the tone for a high-energy evening.
A hush fell over the crowd after Sands’ band took the stage, the room holding a collective breath, anxious for the show to begin. The opening notes of “Satellite,” the title track off her most recent project zip through the room and Sands’ storms onto the stage, embodying every bit of the rockstar she is. For the next two hours Sands’ commanded the energy in the room with the ease of someone born to be on stage. There’s a palpable kinship between her and the crowd. Part of it may come from the ten years she lived in Nashville but most of it seems to come from the bone-deep love people have for her music and the dedication she puts into making it.
Of course, what is an opening night without its technical difficulties? After the first few songs, Sands’ lets the audience know that her in-ears went out and that she has been on stage “just vibing” through it. While she waits for a new mic pack, she leads the crowd in a brief rendition of “Life is a Highway” by Rascal Flatts, taking the setback in stride. The audience could not be happier for the stripped back personal moment, of which, there are many more to come.
Sands has a few tricks up her sleeve for the first night of the tour, each one more exciting than the last. First, she performs an ethereal, never-before-heard rendition of her song, “Afterlife,” remixing it with Owl City’s “Firefiles,” to create a sparkly new song that floats around the room and hangs in the air even after the song is over. Next, she brings out a binder. Inside the binder is every song she’s written but isn’t playing on tour. She passes the binder to two lucky groups who each get to choose one song that they otherwise wouldn’t get to hear. This tour is personal for everyone in the room and she’s planned for it. The final surprise of the night is a guest. John Harvie comes out to sing “neckdeep” with Sands, much to the audience’s excitement.
She ends the show with “Dress,” a song she released in 2021 after the backlash surrounding Harry Styles’ Vogue cover. In the years since she put out the song, her sound has evolved, but the live, heavy guitar and drums make it fit right in with the rest of her set – a perfect blend of genres from lifetime of finding inspiration all around.
The Satellite Tour comes on the tail of her 2026 sophomore album release Satellite – an album that finds the delicate balance between electronic, pop, and rock, creating an immensely satisfying, genre-bending sonic identity.
