Tiger Lewis Bares His Soul in LA
Los Angeles, California - August 13, 2026
An excited and welcoming audience is what every musician wants. And lucky for Tiger Lewis, the crowd at the Moroccan Lounge on Thursday night was giddy and ready to shout along to his sold-out EP release show.
Tiger released his debut EP, Mr. Right Now, on August 14 at midnight, and the celebrations started the night before at the Moroccan Lounge for an EP release show. The six-song EP captures multiple contradictions that Tiger has been building his world around, like soul, grit, insecurity, and desire. The EP is brought to life by his guitar-driven tracks that blend genres such as R&B, rock, and blues. He was joined on stage by Hannah Searles on bass and Nico Johnson on drums.
R&B artist Marley Bleu opened the show and captivated the audience with her impressive vocal range, which was hinted at by her self-proclaimed identity as an introverted alto. Her smooth tones and beautiful storytelling got the audience ready for a soulful night.
Tiger and his band, specifically Searles, immediately won over the crowd with their instrumental prowess and the joy they radiated. Searles’s bass playing can easily be compared to other blues and funk legends like Victor Wooten, inviting audience members throughout the venue to echo the same sentiment: “the bassist is so cool!”
The fourth song of the night was “Mrs. Kisses,” which was released as a single earlier this summer. The crowd burst out singing to this romantic tune, and it gave Tiger the opportunity to showcase his vocal range with high notes that made the audience cheer in approval.
Tiger spread the love by inviting audience members to dance with the people next to them to the next song, “Too Easy.” He continued to play an unreleased song, “Ashamed,” which featured beautiful harmonies from the band.
Towards the end of the show, they performed “Runaway” from the EP. The song’s chugging bass line feels like running, achieving the song’s intended listening experience. The chorus sounded so familiar, like that of a 2000s pop-rock power ballad, and has the potential to quickly become a crowd favorite. “Runaway” led straight into a cover of “Roxanne” by The Police. The song became a sort of call and response, as Tiger would impress the audience with each “Roxanne” he sang, thus eliciting cheers from the crowd after each time.
After performing “Lonely Guy” and teasing the audience by saying, “this might be our last one,” Tiger and his band returned to finish the set with “Mr. Right Now.” The audience responded to the song with phones flying up to record the song and hold on to the memories for later.
This show allowed Tiger to not only celebrate the release of his debut EP, but also give the audience a front-row seat to his songwriting mastery. Every song on Mr. Right Now and in the setlist had its own distinct identity and sent the audience moving and grooving.
