JAWNY Reminds Us To Let Go and Live on “In a Moment”

Nothing makes me more heartsick than living an experience I know will become only a memory in a few minutes— that seems to be a sentiment JAWNY understands in his new track “In a Moment.” The singer’s first song since March is bittersweet, just like a feeling that’s slipping through your fingers while it’s still happening.

JAWNY sings, “If you try to make a memory / While it is going on / Then you'll lose it all.” It’s honest, and even a little heartbreaking. It’s a sullen reminder of the impermanence of each moment we live through, but also holds a bit of hope, like working towards a future where letting go is a little easier. The track itself is relatively stripped down, seeming to allow the focus to be the message of the song. It’s held together by soft synths, piano, and drums in the softest and almost careful way, like it holds the weight of something important. Which it does— a realization that one isn’t living in the moment, but rather the memory.

As always, JAWNY delivers his most raw and honest self on this track. It’s something he’s never failed to do— be honest with himself and his audience. It feels akin to a fresh start. Shedding the old skin, and choosing to live in a different way. On the track, he posted to Instagram saying, “I love you all and hope you enjoy this record as much as I enjoyed making it. It was a cosmic-shifting moment for me as both a writer and a producer. It’s crazy how long music can take to finally come out, but I’m grateful that after three years, you’re finally hearing what I’ve been holding onto.”

JAWNY’s songs only get bigger and better from his last, and his journey will be one to keep an eye on.
