Nitefire is on fire with new single, LA's Got Gorgeous

Anticipation for summer is at an all time high. Festival lineups are getting announced left and right, days are getting longer and warmer, and we’re all collectively staring out the proverbial window, daydreaming about how we’re going to spend it. And, like me, if you’re not already there–you’re probably wishing you could spend it in LA.

With an origin of playing massive house parties in the Hollywood Hills, LA-based rock band Nitefire is no stranger to the chaos of the city’s party culture. The group cultivated their sound by playing to crowds so large, they’d often overflow onto the street like a scene from Project X. They continue to deliver rager-worthy performances on stage now at their live shows, capturing the life-of-the-party energy that shaped their career.

Nitefire has caught a wave, and they plan to ride it all the way to the Venice Beach shore. This is where the band decided to market test their latest single, “LA’s Got Gorgeous”. In several recently posted instagram reels, frontman Nico Geyer approached beachgoers with a bedazzled microphone to ask their honest reactions to the new song. “This is some sh*t I’d listen to in the car”, “I just want to mosh”, and “I would say it’s definitely what we call delicious material”, the listeners had to say.

This lively, electric track is distinctly reminiscent of the early ‘00s–you can imagine the montage it would accompany in a Y2K era teen movie. Guitar riffs radiate pure heat at the top of the number, a fitting introduction for Nico’s bright, britpop adjacent vocals. After the first chorus, all instruments cut out as he sings, “I’m on a soul vacation going station to station” then the band rebounds in full force, with a particularly groovy cowbell hitting every beat. He continues, “Looking at a bright red sign for a parking citation / Yeah, LA’s got the girls with California’s hydration / We’re going to the beach I hope you brought flotation”, and we’re sent right back into another smashing chorus. LA’s Got Gorgeous is a satisfying anthem for the iconic city, representing its undying dedication to luxury, leisure and fun (with maybe just a hint of playful satire). The single and music video are out now.

Nitefire are proving to be ones to watch, and with their debut LP set to release later this year, we just can’t look away.
