Local Chicago artist Claud releases new music video

Claud’s ‘A Good Thing’ video opens with witty dialogue, fresh bedroom pop tunes, and Paul Rudd? Claud, an American indie/bedroom pop singer and local to the suburbs of Chicago, released the video for their song ‘A Good Thing’, alongside their 2023 album, Supermodels. The album, released under Dead Oceans and Saddest Factory labels, is the third record from Claud since 2019.

The song looks deeper into a potentially fragile relationship, asking what would happen if the members of the relationship began asking questions or digging deeper into their problems. The phrase, “What if we leave a good thing alone?” is repeated in the song and shown through the visual imagery of an unraveling sweater, a gift from Claud’s significant other in the video.

The song holds the tone of a modern, indie pop hit, with lyrics that aim for a higher form of melancholy. As for why Paul Rudd is in the video or why we seem to be seeing even more celebrities in music videos, Claud said it best in ‘A Good Thing’, we’re “looking for answers to the questions that we’re asking, but we’ll never know.”
