Stuart Place Announces Latest Double-Single Release
New York City-based band, Stuart Place, is releasing two new singles on Friday, October 11th. The band includes Teddy Urban (vocals and guitar), Liam O’Toole (vocals and bass), and Dylan Ellner (drums). Produced and engineered by Andrew Garces, “Concrete Rivers,” and “Poolside,” are derived from the tempos of early 2000s post punk, garage rock fuzz and dissonance, and clean and driving riffs from classic rock.
“Concrete Rivers” begins with an ominous, static dissonance, and just a moment later the guitar riff begins to peak the intrigue of the listener. Throughout the song, the steady drums and bass sustain a constant rhythmic line until the drumfill leads into the chorus, immediately bouncing back once the chorus comes to a close. The guitar riff fits perfectly with the same rhythm, making space to highlight the vocals and lyrics of the song.
“Poolside” begins with a slower rhythmic guitar lick until the lyrics kick in with a hard-hitting beat. The drums provide a somewhat bouncy rhythm that pushes the tempo forward and feels reminiscent of an early 2000s punk and rock sound. Halfway through, the song swings into a mid-length guitar solo that drives the song towards the ending with its fast moving tempo. The song closes as the last lyrics are sung, and the band collectively descends into silence.
Stuart Place is playing Arlene’s Grocery on Friday October 11th. Tickets are linked here.
