Oracle Sisters Announce Sophomore Album ‘Divinations’

Paris-based trio Oracle Sisters took to Instagram Wednesday to announce their sophomore album, Divinations, dropping Feb. 14.

Oracle Sisters’ Divinations announcement post on Instagram.

The announcement comes after months of the band sharing pictures and videos from writing and recording sessions teasing new music. The band — comprised of Julia Johansen, Christopher Willard and Lewis Lazar — said in its album announcement post that Divinations was “mostly written during a week long burst of creative exorcism” in a northern France farmhouse this winter.

The three-piece said the title “speaks to the idea that we find ourselves spinning songs out of thin air, not knowing where they come from.” They said the title reflects the “mysterious” songwriting process they’ve always had, describing the formation of a song in their minds as ghost-like.

Oracle Sisters also released the second single from Divinations Wednesday, “Riverside,” which comes after the October release of lead single “Alouette.” “Riverside” certainly has an ethereal feel, as a spacey, reverberating synth line introduces the serene track and its contemplative lyrics like “With your eye on the road / Does your time take its toll?”

Divinations will also be the band’s first album released on their new label, Wizard Artists. Their debut album Hydranism came out in 2023 and cemented the trio’s folk-based indie rock sound.

You can pre-save Divinations here before its Valentine’s Day release.
