November Girl releases single “Down Bitter”

New York City based alternative rock band, November Girl, has released their latest single titled “Down Bitter” on October 31st.

The new single is reminiscent of an early punk sound with a sweeter, more feminine touch that cuts right through the rock instrumentals. The song starts off with a steady rhythm of instrumentals; immediately upon listening the beat is hypnotizing and its repetitive nature puts the listener in a trance. The vocals come in with a soft sultry voice, almost creeping up on the listener. The first line rings out, “Under heaven’s light, I ascend.”

This lyrically powerful song takes the listener through a plethora of poetic storylines to answer those questions that don’t necessarily have an answer. Such as the lyric, “Is it power if they give it to you?”

November Girl describes “Down Bitter” as a song “about a woman's experience w/ sex work while being in a relationship with a man, thinking about whether or not she has any power in either situation. It's the feeling, ‘Do I ever really have any power when dealing with men?’ I do think the answer is yes, but when you're young, it feels rare.” The delicate topic is wrapped into a four minute- 36 second song that will be immediately added to any playlist and extends to a variety of musical tastes.
