The Districts & Peach Pit @ The Riviera Theatre
CHICAGO, September 27, 2022
Opening for a big band can be a terrifying gig. Is anyone going to show up? Are they going to enjoy it? Will they even be polite enough to pretend to enjoy it?
And though Peach Pit fans seem to make it easy for any act, since they’re mostly people that genuinely just love music, The Districts put on a show that couldn’t disappoint. Their sound, similar to that of The Growlers, Briston Maroney, Jake Bugg, and (unsurprisingly) Peach Pit, is the type of music that makes you sway from side to side, tap your feet, and bounce your head, without even realizing. I was personally also very upset I didn’t know the words to Long Distance so I could scream them while going through some musical catharsis.
The underground sound just made sense in a venue like The Riviera Theatre; big enough to be taken seriously, but small enough to understand that they boys from The Districts are still up-and-coming, even though they have technically been around for over ten years (yes! The band was formed in 2009.)
With their newest album Great American Painting being only 6 months old, this is a perfect time to check them out and catch them on the From 2 to 3 tour supporting Peach Pit.
