Hether warms up the crowd for Dominic Fike @ Huntington Bank Pavillion- Chicago

Chicago, Illinois - August 24th, 2023

Alt-indie musician Hether took the stage in Chicago before Dominic Fike on his Don’t Stare at The Sun Tour.

Although Hether, aka Paul Castelluzzo, is a solo project, a drummer and a backup guitarist joined him on stage. Together, they confronted the sweltering temperatures and oppresive sun at Huntington Bank Pavillion in Northerly Island—a far from ideal outdoor location for the occasion.

Hether took advantage of the situation by using a racing, projective sound and a few humorous crowd interactions to make the audience laugh.

The song "Falling In Loves too Mean", a flowing slow jam with a strong and effective bass line, was on the setlist. "That song was about breakup, and me and my drummer got broken up with on the tour and it fucking sucks," Castelluzzo stated before leading everyone to console Justin, his drummer. "Everyone say 'I love you Justin!'" he said. On queue Justin removed his shirt and continued to play the rest of the concert without it.

The group was effortlessly skilled at their craft; a few standout moments of the performance was when numerous skills were combined in just one song. Justin delivered one of multiple tambourine solos while multitasking on the drums, while Paul performed an extended chorus of just whistling, both of which were noteworthy and well-rehearsed.

"Dirty Claws" was the more particularly edgy song on the setlist, with a frantic electric guitar solo threaded throughout and lyrics ,"My mama told me not to fall in love/ with a vampire and her blood." The audience was able to sing along to the last chorus, spelling out the word vampire with the band, making the song an energetic favorite.

Hether was a compatible match with Dominic Fike and is rounding out the North American Don’t Stare at the Sun tour with 3 dates left. Be sure to grab tickets!
