Arctic Monkeys instill their charm @ United Center

Chicago, Illinois -August 27th, 2023

Arctic Monkeys are a household name, they are a staple in the ever-evolving world of music, and they proved that and more at Chicago’s famous United Center this past week. Defining themselves creatively and sonically has always been an interesting road for the band, and their past two record releases have solidified that especially.

Arctic Monkeys embarked on their current U.S. tour “The Car”, named after their most recent album that came out back in October of 2022, on the 25th of August in Minneapolis before stopping in Chicago for their second show. Despite this tour following the release of their album “The Car”, the band’s setlist only included three songs off said album and instead opted for a variety show style, playing a little bit from everything even including a few from their first album. But even so, the album shown the most love throughout the setlist is without a doubt their instant 2013 classic “AM”. So whether you’re a die-hard fan, a newcomer, or in love with the fan-favorite classics (and for good reason because who isn’t honestly), there is a place for you at this show.

The band played through their hour-and-a-half-long set with all their strength. The audience was on the edge of their seats excited to guess what songs were next just as much as the Monkeys were energized to the most engaging orchestrated rock show they possibly could. Each and every member and touring member on their stage performs with everything in them. It truly is an amazing show.

Alex Turner occupied his usual eccentric self on stage as he danced around, he is a fiercely emotive performer as he sings with his whole body and sways his hands out to the crowd with to the necessity of the song.

As the band finishes up performing “There’d Better Be A Mirrorball” off “The Car” a large mirrorball, with “Monkeys” written across both sides, big enough to light up the entire arena slowly drops down over the stage. The band starts to perform a slowed intro of fan favorite “505” as the mirrorball spins around entrancing everyone inside.

If you find your way to an Arctic Monkeys show this tour it will definitely be a night to remember. Their U.S. tour still has a long way to go before ending so grab some friends and go scream along to some of the most memorable songs of the past decade in the presence of the 2013 teen royalty Arctic Monkeys.
