The Lumineers @ Santa Barbara Bowl

September 12, 2023, the Santa Barbara Bowl came alive with the enchanting sounds of folk and rock as The Lumineers took the stage, supported by the talented James Bay. This concert, a harmonious blend of heartfelt storytelling and electrifying performances, was a musical journey that left the audience in awe.

The night began with the soulful melodies of James Bay. His charismatic presence and exceptional guitar skills immediately captured the crowd's attention. With classic songs stemming from “Hold Back the River” to some newer music off his latest album, Bay's performance was a testament to his growth as an artist.

The Lumineers started their set off with a surprise performance on the B-Stage walking out from the cat-walk. The band, known for their authenticity and connection with their audience, wasted no time in delivering a performance that would be etched in the memories of all present.  

The Lumineers' setlist featured a perfect balance of their well-loved classics like "Cleopatra" and "Ophelia," and newer tracks from their latest album. "Gloria" and "Ho Hey" were energetic, foot-stomping highlights that had the crowd dancing and singing along with unbridled enthusiasm.

The stage production was simple yet effective, with warm, intimate lighting that complemented the band's down-to-earth aesthetic. The backdrop featured scenic visuals that transported the audience to the places and emotions described in their songs.

The chemistry between Schultz, Jeremiah Fraites (drums), and Neyla Pekarek (cello and backing vocals) was palpable. Pekarek's cello added a unique and enchanting layer to the Lumineers' sound, creating an atmosphere that was both melancholic and uplifting. 

As the night drew to a close, The Lumineers left the audience with a sense of gratitude and nostalgia. They wrapped up the show with an encore performance of “Stubborn Love” leaving the crowd on a high-note and echoing their minds as the prepared to exit the venue. 

It was a magical evening of music that transcended expectations. James Bay's soulful performance set the stage for a night of heartfelt storytelling and electrifying folk-rock by The Lumineers.
