Hardcore Supergroup Better Lovers Hits Toronto

november 14, 2024 - toronto, canada

Better Lovers hit Toronto like a force to be reckoned with late Thursday night, taking over The Opera House on the east side of Toronto’s Queen Street. The otherwise quiet neighbourhood became the unsuspecting host of a night full of heavy vocals and even heavier riffs from the moment Better Lovers took the stage. Hailing from the United States, the hardcore band came full force north of the border for an unforgettable show.

Supported by Full of Hell, Spy, and Cloakroom; Better Lovers dialed an already high energy evening through the roof as they were met with a chorus of screaming and cheering right from the beginning. With the audience buzzing full of excited anticipation as the opening compilation of love songs played throughout the venue right before they hit the stage, Better Lovers delivered an uncompromising, and undeniably incredible night for every fan.

Often referred to as a supergroup, Better Lovers is made up of vocalist Greg Puciato, guitarists Jordan Buckley and Will Putney, Steve Micciche on bass, and Clayton “Goose” Holyoak on drums. The group combines years of music industry experience in former bands such as Every Time I Die, The Dillinger Escape Plan, and Fit For An Autopsy, into an unstoppable force with this latest project. Initially coming together as friends, their passion and chemistry is clear both in their music and on stage.

Better Lovers is vicious from the first moment they step onto the stage, challenging fans to keep up with their unrelenting energy and power throughout their set. They toe the line between brilliant and unhinged, as the band balances droning distortion with fast guitars and heavy bass. With a setlist dominated by tracks off of their first full length record, Highly Irresponsible, which came out less than a month ago, fans are fully committed to the music, crowd surfing and moshing through the entirety of the set. Songs like “White Horse Covered in Blood” and “Love As An Act of Rebellion” are met with fans singing along as they are fully pulled into the world of Better Lovers.

Unyielding through the entire setlist, Better Lovers is a must see show for any hardcore punk fan. Despite being a newer grouping, Better Lovers has a wicked discography and the temperament to match, driving the audience to exactly where they need to be. Catch Better Lovers on their Highly Irresponsible tour, continuing into the middle of December in the US and heading to the UK in the new year. Stream Highly Irresponsible out now on all streaming platforms.
