Wallows Bring an Intimate Show to Seattle
seattle, washington - august 8th, 2024
The band Wallows, formed in 2017, quickly gained popularity with their debut single Pleaser, which peaked at number 2 on Spotify’s Global Viral 50 Chart. In 2024, the band released their new album Model, gaining over 2 million streams within the first day of its release. Their world tour, following the albums release, began on August 6th in Portland, Oregon, and will conclude in December in New Zealand.
On August 8th, 2024, the indie band performed at WAMU Theater in Seattle, Washington, with New Zealand singer and songwriter Benee as the supporting act. Benee immediately brought energy to the show, riling up the crowd in anticipation of the headliners. Her set included breakout singles like Soaked and the TikTok sensation Supalonely, featuring Gus Dapperton.
Shortly after Benee’s performance, a large curtain bearing the band's name dropped, heightening anticipation and leaving fans curious about the set. As the show began, the black Wallows curtain fell to reveal a white curtain, and the opening notes of Do Not Wait played, capturing the audience's attention as the performance kicked off. The band performed the opening song behind the curtain until the start of Your Apartment, which marked the moment when the curtain finally dropped, revealing band members Dylan Minnette, Braeden Lemasters, and Cole Preston to the crowd.
Halfway through the show, Dylan left the main stage and made his way through the crowd, singing She’s an Actress from their latest album. The audience parted to create paths for him as he walked toward a makeshift stage by the sound booth, where his fellow band members, Braeden and Cole, were waiting. The stage was designed to resemble a cozy apartment living room, complete with lamps, side tables, and chairs, adding an intimate and personal touch to the performance.
The band engaged their fans by asking each tour location to vote for a song from a pre-selected catalog, making the ticket buyers feel more involved in planning the show. In Seattle, the city’s voted song was Treacherous Doctor from their 2019 album Nothing Happens. They closed the show with Only Ecstasy, expressing heartfelt gratitude and interacting with the fans even more. This tour will be unforgettable, featuring a home-like set, lively crowd interaction, and an electric energy that flowed between the band and the audience.
