Young The Giant wins over Chicago

chicago, illinois - august 14, 2024

Starting in 2004 and skyrocketing in 2009, most members of Young The Giant have 20 years of experience working together to make fascinating music in the studio and translate it to the stage. As the years progressed, so has their music, landing them at five studio albums and a dedicated fanbase.

The California-based band started with Sameer Gadhia, Jacob Tilley and Francois Comtois and a few others before switching up their lineup during the early stages of their career, adding on Eric Cannata and Payam Doostzadeh to make the band complete

Now, in the year 2024, the band has been celebrating the 10 year anniversary of their second album “Mind Over Matter,” by releasing it and performing to an audience who may not know their discography.

The band has been on tour with Cage The Elephant for their Neon Pill Tour in North America and will be with them for the next month.

However, it didn’t feel like they were an opening band because the audience at UIC Credit Union 1 Arena on August 14, 2024 knew exactly who they were. According to Ghadia, the band wasn’t planning on touring but couldn’t pass up the opportunity when members of Cage The Elephant reached out to them.

“It was a decade in the making,” Ghadia announced to the crowd as he spoke about his relationship with Cage The Elephant and how the two bands had a similar timeline in growth and album releases.

It was no surprise that the arena was quickly filling up during their set time, since Cage The Elephant was next on the lineup, but it was astounding to see so many people sing along to all of the songs on the set considering they were an opening slot. The connection between the band and the fans was undeniable as the crowd danced and held up their phone flashlights.

The set was mixed with a collection of their music, which was eclectic since they’ve released a range of songs pushing the boundaries of alternative rock, a category they tend to find themselves in. Playing with synthesizers and acoustics, keeping the crowd alert and focused on each song.

By the end of the set, everyone solidified their love for their music, and it perfectly transitioned the night into Cage The Elephant’s headlining set.
