K.Flay’s show is Raw Raw in Toronto

toronto, canada - september 12, 2024

K.Flay hit Toronto’s Sobeys Stadium to drive the energy in the otherwise unassuming university neighbourhood through the roof late Thursday night. K.Flay commands the stage like a seasoned pro, making full use of the space while running, jumping, and dancing across to her setlist of high energy tracks. Opening for Milky Chance, she has no problem drawing both old fans, and first time listeners, into her world.

Opening the show with “Are You Serious?”, the opening track off of her latest record Mono, K.Flay sets the tone of the show, and reveals exactly who she is with little pretense. Despite the rhythmic beat of the song, it’s a vulnerable dive into her struggles with experiencing sudden hearing loss in 2022 and later going completely deaf in her right ear. Despite initially expressing concerns about her ability to continue to make music, K.Flay looks like she was born to be on stage, completely enrapturing the audience throughout her setlist.

The open air in The Bowl at Sobeys Stadium is the perfect venue for K.Flay as she takes over not only the stadium, but the whole neighbourhood. The audience can’t help but jump, clap, and dance along as the energy from the stage is contagious throughout the whole venue. Pulling out a guitar for a couple of songs, K.Flay proves that not only is she a good performer, but a great musician, perfectly balancing the mood of the show as she rips through her top hits.

The setlist is both a good introduction for new fans and more than satisfies old ones as well. Her latest record, Mono, is well represented with tracks like “Raw Raw” and “Punisher” that get the crowd up and moving. K.Flay keeps the energy high with songs like “Zen”, originally a collaboration with grandson and X Ambassadors. The setlist is rounded out with hit tracks off of Every Where Is Some Where, such as “Blood in the Cut“ and “High Enough”, the success of which originally contributed to pushing K.Flay further into mainstream fame.

Refusing to conform to one specific genre, K.Flay offers a mix of rock, rap, and alternative that promises a must see show every time. With only two more shows currently announced in British Columbia, Canada, K.Flay is a must watch artist to see what she does next. In the meantime, stream Mono, currently out now on all streaming platforms.
